Top 5 of the AHL succeed on Saturday

In 12th round of Alps Hockey League the current five best-placed teams all won their games with champion and table-toppers Rittner Buam celebrating a 8:2 blowout win against Gherdeina. In addition, the Austrian sides Lustenau, Red Bull Hockey Juniors and Bregenzerwald earned important points.

EC-KAC II - EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 1:6 (1:0, 0:3, 0:3)
The visitors got of a better start but Philip Putnik and Philipp Winzig missed in the second minute. The home team also tried their luck on the offense with both teams facing at eys level. Halfway through the first the game slowed down with Klagenfurt getting the surprising lead when a deflection by Matthias Kern went in. Only one minute later Yan Stasny hit the post and KAC took the lead into the intermission. Lustenau came out hard with Philipp Koczera tying the game at one. Then, Lustenau failed to score on a four minute power play but soon later Dominik Oberscheider turned the game around from close range. After Klagenfurt missing two chances for an equalizer, Dmitri Malgin doubled the score with 27 seconds left in the second. After the restart Koczera made the preliminary decision on pwoer play. Jürgen Tschernutter (46./pp) and Malgin (56.) rounded off the scoring for a 1:6 final result.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - FBI VEU Feldkirch 5:4 FSO (1:2, 0:2, 3:0, 0:0, 1:0)
The home team had the better start and Tadej ?imžar opened the scoring in the third minute. After that goal, Feldkirch team outplayed the home team and Stefan Wiedmaier equalized one minute later. By the end of the first period they were already leading 2:1 thanks to Martin Mairitsch. In the second period Jesenice were a bit lost on the ice. Too many bad passes and mistakes led to a 4:1 deficit as Dylan Stanley and Christoph Draschkowitz added two more goals. The third period started a lot better for Jesenice team. They outshot Feldkirch by 21-3. The visiting team managed to hold on to the lead until the 50th minute. After that they were too tired to keep up with the young Jesenice team. By the end of the third period the home team equalized with ?imžar scoring twice and also Jaka Šturm lit the lamp, the game went to overtime. The fans didn't get a winner after 5 minutes of overtime so it was decided in shootout. Žan Jezovšek scored the winning goal and Jesenice won their 9th straight game.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors - HC Neumarkt Riwega 5:4 FSO (3:1, 1:0, 0:3, 0:0, 1:0)
Salzburg opened the game with high tempo but Neumarkt scored first. The visitors took the lead in the second minute thanks to Jakub Muzik. Samuel Witting (power play) and Daniel Jakubitzka turned the game around within 53 seconds and Jakubitzka also added another goal for a 3:1 Juniors lead. Salzburg had an early pp in the middle frame but could not use it. Them the hosts killed a 5 on 3 shorthanded situation for 80 seconds and extended the lead with both teams being back at full strength: In the 33rd minute Lukas Kainz converted a Florian Baltram pass for a comfortable 4:1 lead. In the third period Neumarkt became better and two power play goals by Michael Sullmann and Joe Harcharik made it a one-goal game again. In the 53rd minute new arrival Harcharik even tied the game and sent it into overtime. The Juniors missed some good chances in the extra session but had to wait until Nico Strodel decided the shootout to their favour.

WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan - S.G. Cortina Hafro 5:4 (3:1, 0:0, 2:3)
A match that didn’t disappoint the expectations of the eve with nine goals scored in total. Sterzing was without Ivan Deluca, Daniel Erlacher and Tobias Kofler. The home team was better in the first period as they made three goals in just seven minutes thanks also to a certain disorder of the guests. After the first penalty of Cortina, Hannes Oberdorfer's first goal was in powerplay after a minute of play. Then Matthias Mantinger and Fabian Hackhofer increased the advantage of Broncos. But Jordan Ciccarello made the first goal of the guest as they went to the first break under two goals (1: 3). During the second period the teams are quieter and more ordered. There were no goals but the Broncos hit a post with Hannes Clementi while the referees, after the video replay, canceled another goal for home team. But in the third time there were great emotions and some penalties. Cortina drew with Diego Iori and Luca Zandonella. There were still 10 minutes to play in the third time. Vipiteno didn’t demoralize as they score two goals in just 18 seconds with Ben Duffy and Luca Felicetti (53.). Cortina returned below with Edoardo Caletti in powerplay but the game was of Vipiteno that won for 5:4 and took 5th place, reaching the same points of the opponents of tonight.

EC Bregenzerwald - HC Pustertal Wölfe 4:2 (2:1, 2:1, 0:0)
It was a fast-paced game at Messestadion with both teams creating some good scoring chances. Daniel Ban opened the scoring on power play after only three minutes. Despite being one man down, the visitors tied the game by Sean Ringrose but Bregenzerwald took a 2:1 lead into the first intermission: after Neubauer only hit the post it was Christian Haidinger who restored the lead. In the last seconds Pustertal struck metalwork. Early in the second Neubauer hit the post once again but then Philipp Pöschmann doubled the lead. The game became more emotional with penalties on both sides. The pp goals by Juuso Mörsky resp. Patrick Bona made it a 4:2 score after 40 minutes. In the third the wolves failed to score because of Bregenzerwald netminder Misa Pietilä. In a final push the guests pulled their goalie for a sixth skater but without success.

EK Zeller Eisbären - HK SZ Olimpija 2:5 (0:1, 1:2, 1:2)
The Slovenes came out hard and justified their role as the favourite early. Halfway through the first Matic Kralj made the breakthrough with a solo attempt. Zell am See had no easy time with Olimpija dominating the game and having a 1:0 lead after 20 minutes. Miha Zajc doubled the score in the second on power play and then Andrej Hebar put Ljubljana 3:0 up. Zell's captain Franz Wilfan brought back hope in the 25th minute when he got his side on the score board. Now the polar bears had the better of the play but the could not beat Olimpija goalie Robert Kristan once again. The Slovenes failed to score on a penalty shot in the third but soon later Miha Pesjak made the preliminary decision. After a nce play by Vala and Tapio it was Tommi Laine who pulled one back but Olimpija had the last say when Crt Snoj finished off the scoring for a 5:2 road win.

HC Gherdeina - Rittner Buam 2:8 (0:3, 1:4, 1:1)
Gherdeina has just put on the rink David Roupec, a new player for HC Gherdeina. The defender of the Czech Republic took the place of Kalvin Sagert. Ritten played this game without the presence of Andreas Alber and Max Ploner. Dan Tudin and Markus Spinell came back in the team after flu. After only 18 minutes of play the guests were already ahead for 3 0. Brad Cole scored the first goal in double shorthanded! Only four minutes later, bomber Alex Frei doubled. The third goal was the of the Swedish center Victor Ahlström. At this point the match was pretty much decided. In the central period, the home team used goalkeeper Giancarlo Kostner. Gabriel Vinatzer scored a powerplay goal for 1: 3, but immediately after Alex Frei made his 2th goal of the night. Then, Thomas Spinell and Victor Ahlström were also on the list of scorers. After 34 minutes, also Simon Kostner raised his hands. Ritten ended the goals as they had begun: Brad Cole scored again. The last goal of the evening was of Benjamin Kostner that fixed the final result (2:8). In the last period came back like goalkeeper Martin Rabanser. The Renon stayed on top of the standings as they increased the advantage over Jesenice: now the distance between italian team and slovenian team was 3 points.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 5:3 (2:0, 2:1, 1:2)
In the first period Asiago didn’t have much trouble to control the match. Giulio Scandella's first net was over the opponent goalkeeper in speed as he put the puck in the wide open net. The second goal was Alex Gellert in powerplay with a shot from a short distance and the goalkeeper was out of crease. The second half continued as the first. Very fast action of yellow-read team: Dal Sasso served a perfect assist for Conci who realized 3th goal for home team and Anthony Nigro even added a fourth. The Austrian team made the first goal in two-man adavantage situation with Adam Fekti. Then in the third time the Eagles came back to fly. Eriksson made a goal after a lucky rebound as he managed to put the puck behind Cloutier. A minute later Kitzbühel was able to reopen the match with Sprukts, who was left cautiously free in front of the net. The goal of safety for Asiago was by David Bardaro who made the final point of the game in powerplay during the final minute of the game.
