Two minutes before the second intermission Bern retook the lead. Despite Salzburg having good chances for another equalizer in the third, the NLA side added a third for a 3:1 win. EHC Red Bull Munich won Red Bulls Salute with a 5:2 final win against Sparta Praha.

Caps win preseason opener
New captain Andreas Nödl led UPC Vienna Capitals into the first preseason game at MAC Budapest. The Viennese took over command early and halfway through the first Patrick Peter made the breakthrough. In the remainder of the first and also in the middle frame, the Caps had good chances for a more comfortable lead but could not find a way through. After missing on two good occasions, last league MVP Riley Holzapfel lit the lamp after 44 minutes. With ten minutes to go MAC got on the scoreboard for an insteresting finish. First Pollastrone only hit the post and then the Hungarians were out of luck when strucking metalwork, too. In the end the Caps earned a well-deserved 2:1 win.

Carinthian teams suffer first defeats
After opening their preseason with a home victory against Lyon, EC VSV met HC Banská Bystrica in Maribor on Saturday.
