Before the big Showdown of the Sky Alps Hockey League on Wednesday, between the Rittner Buam and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, the “Buam” captured the top of the league position – Jesenice were free of play. Also the chasing pack of HC Pustertal Wolves, FBI VEU Feldkirch and EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau won their games. Rittner Buam - HC Fassa Falcons 8:1 (1:1, 2:0, 5:0) The Rittner Buam introduced a new player: Tommaso Traversa was a reinforcement for the forward lines; He came back from Dundee Stars (EIHL). This player is also playing in the national italian team. The home team was playing without Markus Spinell, Kevin Fink, Daniel Spimpolo and Johannes Tauferer. But after half of the match the Rittner Buam took off: in only two minutes they realized two goals. Simon Kostner scored again: this time was in shorthanded goal after he stole the puck on the blue line and finished the action with a big shot. Victor Ahlstrom scored with one timer shot. The hosts played well until the end of the second period. The result after 40 minutes was 3:1 for Klobstein. In the third period the gap between the two teams came out. Team’s coach Lehtonen was absolute master of the ice. The Rittner Buam scored five goals with five different players: Thomas Spinell, Oskar Ahlstrom, Alexander Eisath, Matthias Fauster and Dan Tudin. The Rittner Buam won 8:1 this match. They went to the top of the standings. The Falcons team found the sixth defeats in a row. Red Bull Hockey Juniors - EK Zeller Eisbären 3:4 (0:1, 1:2, 2:1) The Red Bulls Juniors hosted the Derby in Salzburg. The polar bears started with high pressure, which got paid off in sevenths minute. Tobi Dinhopel scored during a shorthanded situation. The polar bears kept the control, also after capturing the lead. But no more goals in the first period. At the beginning of the second period Herzog wasn’t able to score a penalty shot. The goalie of Salzburg won the duel. But only one minute later Herzog was able to take revenge – he scored the second goal of the day. When Rataj increased the lead to 3:0 in the 31st minute, the away fans already believed in a preliminary decision. But only three minutes later, Salzburg managed to score their first goal of the night. Dario Winkler succeeded in 5 vs. 3 powerplay. In the last period Salzburg took full risk and got rewarded. Goals of Wachter and Kainz made the arena loud again and tied the game. But in 57th Markus Pöck had the answer, he scored the decisive goal for win of the EK Zeller Eisbären. FBI VEU Feldkirch - EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 3:0 (0:0, 1:0, 2:0) In the first period the fans saw two offensively forced teams, but no goals. In the execution both teams lacked of coolness. Also in the second period there were still good chances on both ends of the ice. Especially the hosts had a good rhythm, but still didn’t overcame the goalie of Kitzbühel. In the 35th minute during a powerplay situation of Feldkirch, Kevin Puschnik managed to score the first goal of the day, after a perfect Assist of Dusting Parks. After that, the second goald didn’t seem to be far, but Feldkirch didn’t manage to increase the lead in the second period. In the final period the game still was close and exciting. Eight minutes before the end Kitzbühel took full risk during a powerplay situation. Stanley captured the puck and prepared the second goal scored for Dustin Parks. Smail Samardzic made the final decision four minutes before the end. He scored the 3:0. EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau - EC Bregenzerwald 10:3 (3:1, 3:1, 4:1) The EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau dominated the EC Bregenzerwald and won the Derby with 10:3. Bregenzerwald did everything to prevent the defeat, but Lustenau played very powerful and controlled the game. Already in the fourth minute Lustenau took the lead. Captain Max Wilfan scored the first goal and was elected to the player of the game. Durin a 5:3 powerplay situation Stefan Wiedmaier surprised the Goalie of Bregenzerwald in the 9th minute and increased the lead. Philip Kocera succeeded with a goal which leaves the side only one down, but only seconds later the hosts had the right answer. Daniel Stefan scored a blue liner. In the second period Bregenzerwald reduced the lead of Lustenau again, but only two minutes Max Wilfan scored again for Lustenau. Lustenau took full control and Marcel Witting and Philipp Winzig increased to 6:2. In the last period Winzig succeeded in another goal. But also Bregenzerwald managed to score one more goal, Samu Pitkänen made the third goal for his team this evening. From that moment on only Lustenau scored again. Gatis Gricinskis, Max Wilfan and Pet Vala provided the result of 10:3 HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - HC Neumarkt Riwega 3:6 (1:2, 0:2, 2:2) For the first time in the season the "Fury" was playing with all the players while the visitor team was playing without the forwards Dominik Massar and Johannes Bernard. The game in Wolkstein was fast-paced right from the beginning. The first goal of the match was of the guest team that scored with Matteo Peiti at the end of a confused action. After two minutes, Egna doubled with Jakub Muzik. The home team reacted and scored in powerplay with Diego Iori that was in right place at the right moment. But after the half of the period some penalties started but none of the teams succeeded in redeming the powerplay situations. During the second period the home team had to renounce to Brendan Ellis. The home team took the penalties and complicated its game. The visitors team took this opportunity and scored in powerplay with Ondrej Nedved. The Egna was very solid in the attack zone and scored with a breakway of Alexander Sullmann after 34 minutes of the game. After two periods the scores was 4:1 for Wild Goose. During the third period the “Fury” tried again to score and they succeeded in realizing two fast goals with Straka and Fabrizio Senoner but Egna was able to score again with Radovan Gabri and Michael Sullmann and they ended the match winning 6:3. Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina Hafro - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan 1:2 OT (0:0, 1:0, 0:1, 0:1) Cortina, after winning on Wednesday in Kitzbuhel, was back to play at home on the ice rink to challenge Broncos Vipiteno. The home team was trained from Giorgio De Bettin in the bench after the injury of coach Drew Omicioli. The forward Connor Leen was no longer part of the team. The big chances for the home team was for Zachary Torquato while the opposite was dangerous with Tobias Kofler. When one minutes to the end of the second period was missing, Cortina scored with Riccardo Lacedelli after a persistent action of Patrick Rizzo. In the beginning of third period, Broncos scored in powerplay with Denny Deanesi after one minute. The game remained balanced until the end of the third period. During the overtime Sterzing earned the first win and the first points on the road thanks to the goal of Tobias Kofler. After this win the Broncos were not in the last standings anymore. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - HC Pustertal Wolves 1:2 (0:0, 0:0, 1:2) The big match of the day was at Odegar in Asiago. The home team, after winning against Salizburg on their own ice, were playing against the Val Pusteria team, who was in the high part of the standings. Long and Benetti were absent from the home team and Asiago played with a special pink jersey for to raise funds for the Lega Italiana against cancer and to raise awareness among supporters in the battle against cancer. The Wolves were playing without Schweitzer, Lancsar and Obermair. The first period was fairly balanced with a light supremacy of the yellowred. Asiago was creating the most dangerous situations during his powerplays but the opponent goalkeeper, Thomas Tragust, was good in stopping the home team. The second period was also balanced. Asiago was not taking advantage of a double powerplay but also Val Pusteria was growing up in the game but didn’t take advantage of three opportunities in which there was a free man in front of the slot thanks to goalkeeper Frederic Coutier. During the third period the match was getting interesting also for the powerplay situation. Anthony Nigro scored with a diagonal shot after six minutes of play with a powerplat but Val Pusteria was good in tie afterwards with David Laner. After 53 minutes of the games came the momentum of the match. Armin Helfer scored in powerplay and Pustertal won this important games.
