On Sunday the sixth round in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga takes place. UPC Vienna Capitals try to defend the top of the league against HDD Olimpija Ljubljana but four other teams lie in wait. Linz tries to break Fehervar’s home series Fehervar lost Friday’s game clear 3-0 against Graz 99ers. The team, which won all their home games but lost all away games wants to continue its good streak at home. „I think we played well enough defensively to win. The only thing we have to change is that we have to be more disciplined to avoid penalties. Besides, we have to be hungrier to score goals. For this, we have to win more battles in front of the opposing team’s net“ said coach Laporte about the reasons for losing the game on Friday. The team is awaiting Linz, now second in ranking. Even though Fehervar is 6th now, they have every chance to win and with all players healthy, Benoit Laporte can use his best team against the Austrians. „Linz is the second now, they scored 8 goals against Ljubljana last night, that is why we have to play a very good defensive game. Miklos Rajna is starting in the net, but we are happy with both our goalies“, he added. In their 8:3 win in Ljubljana, seven different players of the Black Wings making it to the scoring charts. Patrick Spannring is doubtful for the game in Hungary. Caps want to defend top of the league against Olimpija UPC Vienna Capitals remained measure of all things in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, beating HC Orli Znojmo 4:2 on the road. On Sunday the leader takes on HDD Olimpija Ljubljana at home. The fast-paced, technically skilled hockey of head coach Serge Aubin, who wants his players to go hard to the net, could bring another success. „Ljubljana beat Innsbruck earlier this season, they have a good team. We prepare like we always do, I want my team to continue on that level“, says Aubin. Yesterday Olimpija played a solid 20 minutes than it was all Linz. After a big 3:8 defeat the team is already looking forward to the first out of three away games in a row hoping they can surprise in Vienna. Kristaps Bazevics, who scored against the Black Wings: „On Sunday there's a new game and a new challenge ahead of us. As all of the games, Vienna is also going to be a hard away game. We have to prepare for it and as always give it our very best. Also our play in the defense has to be better. Hopefully we can do the little things right. If we do them than we have a chance to get some points." Znojmo looks for uptrend in Graz As during the week against the Caps, Moser Medical had a 2:0 lead after 40 minutes in their home game against Fehervar. This time they did not let the game slip away, celebrating the first win in Merkur ice arena. „The boys were skating hard and we are happy about the three points. It was also a good preparation for Sunday“, reports head coach Ivo Jan before the game against HC Orli Znojmo. The Czechs are at the bottom of the league after losing 4:2 to the Caps at home. The Eagles performed better than in the games before but the lack of confidence was clear to see when goalie Marek Schwarz made two crucial mistakes. On the contrary Teddy DaCosta’s play was a glimmer of light, he scored on his debut. „The team was tired after all the travelling in Champions Hockey League but the performance bolsters. The atmosphere is good and we will keep going“, explains head coach Jiri Reznar. Jiri Beround and Patrik Novak are doubtful. Bolzano visits Salzburg on Family Sunday EC Red Bull Salzburg lost the second successive game on Friday, falling to Innsbruck in overtime. One palyer had cause for celebratin, though: Michael Schiechl came back after his injury to play his first game. „It’s great to be back on the ice. It’s always good to play once again after a defeat, I hope we can win on Sunday“. The Bulls take on HCB Südtirol Alperia on ‚Family Sunday‘ with free entrance for all kids. The team of Tom Pokel comes with two wins to Volksgarten, having improved in defense especially. In the last two games they conceded only 1.5 goals on average. „We played very good against Villach. I expect a very tough game against Salzburg, they have a great team. We try to use our chances for the next three points“, told us Markus Gander. DEC tries to go one better in Villach EC VSV suffered the third straight defeat in Bolzano when missing five players. Christian Jennes (lower body injury), Daniel Nageler, Mikko Jokela and Florian Mühlstein (alle upper body injury) are also out for Sunday’s home game against Dornbirn while the appearance from Miha Verlic is doubtful. „It will be a tough game, we have tob e focused for 60 minutes to get a win“, knows Benjamin Petrik. Dornbirner Eishockey Club earned his first points last Thursday, beatin KAC 3:1 at home. Now they want to continue in Villach where they have lost seven out of eight games. „I expect two desperate hockey clubs. Villach lost a couple in a row now and with our win hopefully confidence is back a litte bit. We are going there to play another simple hockey game and trying come over some points“, says head coach Dave MacQueen. KAC welcomes Innsbruck in Servus TV live game EC-KAC lost the last two games but they still have the second best defense available. In the Servus TV live game they host HC TWK Innsbruck who are really successful at the moment. „I think our previous home games were convincing and we want to continue against them“, says forward Manuel Ganahl. Thomas Hundertpfund is back in the lineup, Fischer, Kapstad and Manuel Geier are still out. After the win over Salzburg, HC TWK Innsbruck is third-placed. In addition, the team of Rob Pallin, who became a father lately, won the last two games against the record-holding champions. „We want to do our job again and have to focus on our own.
