Villach and Znojmo lead their semifinals

HC Orli Znojmo beat EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz on Friday in Semifinal number three with 3:2 and EC VSV won at EC Red Bull Salzburg 4:3. Both Eagles lead now in their series with 2:1.

EC Red Bull Salzburg had Andreas Kristler, Manuel Latusa and Daniel Welser back in the Line-up in semifinal number 3 and started more aggressiv then in the last game, but it was Villach, that took the lead: After an attack Nico Brunner made a perfect pass to Dustin Johner, who scored under the crossbar (6.). Captain Matthias Trattnig equalized for the Champion after a solo. The game continued intense, emotional and with penalties. In their first Power Play the Eagles took the lead again: After a big shot from Ryan McKiernan the puck returned from the boards and Rick Schofield made the 2:1. In minute 34 the home-team took advantage from a Power Play. After a Blueliner from Andreas Kristler Brett Sterling poked the puck in for the 2:2. Just 81 seconds later Alexander Rauchenwald finished a counter-attack for the hosts lead. In the last period Villach could not take advantage from some Power Plays. But after a wrong pass from Ryan Duncan Ziga Pance found Rick Schofield and he had an easy job to score the 3:3 into the open net. In the 57th minute Gerhard Unterluggauer decided the game for Villach with a big shot.

Znojmo took the lead in the series with first home-win
The third Semifinal between HC Orli Znojmo and EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz started perfect for the home team. In the first minute Andre Lakos got the puck to the left circle and performed a greeat slapshot right above Ouzas's shoulder. Linz tried to even the score, but Patrik Nechvátal was not to beat. Then Olivier Latendresse got a perfect pass in a shorthanded situation and his breakaway ended with a backhand goal. Period two was dominated by Znojmo, Linz also had some chances. In minute 27 Znojmo took the lead again: Antoni Bo?uta shot from the blue line and Martin Podešva delivered the puck between Ouzas's pads. Aggresive play of both teams escalated with many power-plays on both sides, but none of the teams could score. The last part of the game was led by Znojmo. The third goal of Znojmo came after pressure in front of Ouzas, Corey Trivino found a puck by the post and aimed exactly. The answer from Linz came quickly, Dan DaSilva made the same goal as Trivino by delivering a puck near the post. The final Power Play of Linz didn't change the result aymore, Znojmo leads now in the series two to one.
