HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ celebrated on Thursday in the Qualification Round a 2:1-Shoot-out-home-win over the Moser Medical Graz99ers. Matchwinner was Ex-99er Dustin VanBallegooie. Innsbruck took over the control of the game from the beginning. Just in the middle of the first period the Moser Medical Graz99ers came to chances from Manuel Ganahl and Olivier Latendresse. In minute 17 Jeff Ulmer finally scored the lead for Innsbruck: After a pass from behind the net from Kris Beech Jeff Ulmer beat Danny Sabourin from a sharp angel. Roland Kaspitz came close to score the 2:0 moments later, but he just hit the post. After the re-start Graz became stronger, but chances on both sides still were rare. While Alexander Höller just hit the post, the 99ers could equalize: David Rodman was successful with a concealed shot from the distance. The third period and the overtime stayed scoreless. In the Shoot-out Ex-99er Dustin VanBallegooie finally decided the game for Innsbruck with the 12 penalty-shot. For the Tyroleans it was the second Shoot-out-win in a row.
