HCB Südtirol won also the second final against EC Red Bull Salzburg 4:2 and has now the chance to fix the title already on Tuesday in Salzburg.

The first minutes of the game were dominated by the tactic: Both teams played with discipline and tried to avoid mistakes and so scoring chances were really rare. But in the 13th minute the home-team took advantage from the first Power Play of the game: Ziga Pance finished a great pass from David Laliberte. The guests from Salzburg made more pressure then, but Bozen’s defense and goalie Jaroslav Hübl did a perfect job and stopped the Red Bulls from scoring.

The game did not change much in the second period: The two clubs neutralized each other for most of the time and scoring-opportunities were rare again. The Italians had another Power Play, but could not become dangerous this time. The best chance missed Pance in the 35th minute, but after his shot from a sharp angle the puck only hit the post.

In the last period EC Red Bull Salzburg took over the control of the game more and more. Finally the Red Bulls were able to equalize in minute 47: Defender Troy Milam beat Jaroslav Hübl with a shot from the blue line and just four minutes later Thomas Raffl made the 2:1 from a short distance. Tom Pokel took a Time Out and Bozen had a quick answer: Marco Insam (55.) and MacGregor Sharp just two minutes later in a Power Play scored the lead again for the Italian Record Champion – 3:2. In the last minutes Salzburg got a Power Play and now Coach Don Jackson went full risk and took his goalie out of the net for a sixth skater. But the risk didn’t pay off, 99 seconds before the end Trenton Whitfield scored the 4:2 to the delight of the 7.200 Fans in the sold out Eiswelle into the empty net. Bozen leads now in the Best-of-Five-Series 2:0 and has the first chance to fix the title already on Tuesday (19:30) in Salzburg.
