In the Qualification-Round SAPA Fehervar AV19 hosts on Friday (19:30!) Moser Medical Graz99ers. With a home-win the Devils want to make their next step to the Play-offs. Sapa Fehérvár AV19 was hoping to come a step closer to a play-off spot last night but finally EC-KAC managed to take both points from Székesfehérvár following a hard-fought battle and a 2:1 defeat. “We came ready to play but some guys didn’t engage physically and there was no urgency to compete from the start. We must give credit to Klagenfurt, they came really hard fighting for their life and this made the difference in the first twenty minutes. We played well enough in the second and third periods, we just lacked that little extra to get the second goal”, summarized head coach Marty Raymond. The Hungarians will stay at home for their penultimate intermediary round game when they will host Graz on Friday night. Both teams have scored on average four goals per game in intermediate round with the Hungarians have the much better defense, though. The table-toppers of qualification round won four of five season meetings with Graz, including both home games. “As a team the 99ers are on the rise, they’ve been playing good hockey the last few games. There are no secrets between the two clubs, we know how to play each other. It will come down to details, discipline and effort. We must be a little better offensively, paying the price in front of the opposition’s net. It is a play-off game and we’ll approach it as the most important game of the year”, adds Marty Raymond. Moser Medical Graz99ers got off to a good start in their home game against Dornbirn, but in the end they could only take one point against a direct rival for a playoff spot. The postseason is not under their own steam any more, they have to win their last two games and look at the other teams after. A tough matchup awaits them when the Styrians travel to Szekesfehervar where they have lost the last seven games. “It’s a difficult situation now but we can only take care of our own game. Fehervar is very strong at home, they have been the best team in qualification round, too. Now it’s a good opportunity to win there once again, we stand fast“, tells us Manuel Ganahl, who was on the team on 30th December 2010 when the 99ers celebrated their last victory in Hungary.
