Thanks to a 3:2-shootout-victory versus UPC Vienna Capitals HCB Südtirol drew level with Vienna.

Only 36 seconds were played in the game between HCB Südtirol and UPC Vienna Capitals when Francois Fortier could celebrate the first goal of Vienna, but just 56 seconds later Anton Bernard could tie the game again for Bozen. Both teams had some good opportunities, especially in the powerplay, but couldn’t take advantage of them. In the 14th minute the home team took the lead for the first time of the night. Stefan Zisser deflected a shot of David Lalibertè and scored the second goal for the Foxes.

In the second period the team of Coach Tom Pokel started with two powerplays, but Caps-goalie Matt Zaba made some big saves and kept Vienna in the game. Although Bozen was the better team and had the better chances in the second period, the Vienna Capitals managed to tie the game. Francois Fortier scored the 2:2, his second goal of the game.

In the last period both teams didn’t want to risk too much and concentrated on the own defense. Bozen had a two-man-advantage for 67 seconds, but Vienna also denied this great opportunity of the home team.

In the overtime no goals were scored, in the following shootout the Foxes were luckier, MacGregor Sharp decided the game for HCB with his deciding penaltyshot.
