HDD Telemach Olimpija Ljubljana loses for the third time this season with one-goal against Graz – 2:3. In Graz, both teams played offensively-minded right from the first face-off. HDD Telemach Olimpija Ljubljana had the first chance but Francis Lemieux scored at the other end just 30 seconds into the game. An open exchange of blows followed with the dragons being on a par with their opponents. The hosts came upon the better chances though, Greg Day and Rupert Strohmeier failed to double the lead. Late in the first Graz goalie Dany Sabourin had a big save to keep the tight lead after 20 minutes. After the restart both sides became error-prone but in the course of the period Olimpija took over control. First, Sabourin avoided the equalizer against Gregor Koblar but after the midway point of the game the netminder was helpless against Jaka Zdesar who banged a rebound home. It even became better for the visitors when Gal Koren, who made his debut for Ljubljana after returning back to Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, turned the game around. The Slovenes were punished for a penalty early in the third as Manuel Ganahl tied i tat two apiece. While Olimpija was not able to use another man advantage, the Styrians did: With eight minutes to go Mario Scalzo put his side 3:2 up. The Slovenes recovered slowly from this setback, becoming dangerous in the final push again but Sabourin helped his team to get the third one-goal win against the dragons.
