The 99ers then took some penalties, what was punished by the guests: Jason Ulmer scored from a short distance the lead (31./pp). The Black Wings missed to extend their lead, when Patrick Leahy missed the open net. When Graz was complete again, the home-team became stronger once again. The decision came in the 58th minute: Goalie Mike Ouzas did not fix the puck; Olivier Latendresse reacted fastest and pocked the puck in for the 2:1. 24 seconds before the end Greg Day fixed the 3:1-win with an empty-net-goal.
