After losing 6 consecutive games, HC Innsbruck has found a way back onto the winning track. The sharks beat Graz in a shootout game.

Graz had the better start into the game in Innsbruck: After just 110 seconds Olivier Latendresse finished a 2-on-1-break after a nice diagonal-pass from Francis Lemieux for the lead. Then the hosts took over control but Craig Switzer failed to score alone in front of goalie Sebastian Stefaniszin (5.). The best chance for the Sharks came in the 13th minute, but Maximilian Steinacher missed to score into the open net from the slot after a mistake from Sebastian Stefaniszin. Lukas Jurik and Alex Höller forgave two other good chances for the hosts. Graz did not show much offense, their best chance for the 2:0 came late in the period, but Greg Day missed. Innsbruck returned strongly on the ice. The twins Tyler and Justin Donati and Lukas Jurik missed three good chances early in the period, but then Luke Salazar poked the puck in on a Power Play. Innsbruck pressured for the lead, but Tyler Donati and Co. stayed unlucky. Ten seconds before the break Manuel Ganahl on the other side deflected a shot for another 99ers-lead after a shot from the blue line from Alexandre Picard. At the beginning of the last period Latendresse only hit the post. After having survived the shorthanded situation Innsbruck took over control again and even turned the game around with goals from Patrick Mössmer and a rebound by Luke Salazar – 3:2. Salazar could have made the 4:2, but the puck only hit the post. When Innsbruck just looked like the winner, Olivier Labelle brought Graz into Overtime. After a scoreless extra-time, Justin Donati fixed Innsbruck’s win in the Shoot-out. For HCI it was the first win after six defeats.
