For the first time this season HC Bozen did not collect any point! On Friday the Italiens lost at Graz and ended an impressive pointstreak. HCB Südtirol started perfectly into the game: The Italians capitalized from a mistake from the 99ers, with Marco Insam finishing a 2-on-1-situation. The guests missed to score afterwards in three Power Plays, but 5-on-5 Markus Gander was able to extend the lead in minute 18. Shortly before the break the home side came to their first goal, Rupert Strohmeier made his first goal in the league. In the beginning of the 2nd period the leader could not produce again in two Power Plays. This was punished by Graz: After a pass from Kevin Moderer Strohmeier scored again. The Styrians than missed some other good chances by Greg Day, Ryan Kinasewich and Daniel Woger. Finally Kinaswich finished a 2-on-1 break for the 3:2-lead. HCB-Head Coach Tom Pokel responded with a timeout, but it did not bring much: Rick Schofield failed alone in front of 99ers-goalie Dany Sabourin. On the other side Manuel Ganahl sank a slap shot - 4:2. When the Italians tried to come back ten minutes before the end, 99ers-Coach Mario Richer interrupted the offense of the guests with a Time Out. Tolsa finally fixed the 5:2-home-win for the Moser Medical Graz99ers late in the game.
