After beating KAC Mario Richers' Graz 99ers are travelling to Znojmo on Sunday. Czech eagles have to overcome this year's defensive saddled Styrians. As in the previous season, HC Orli Znojmo won their first away game of the season in Salzburg, beating the Bulls 4:2 this time. “We were well prepared and did much better than in our first game, especially when opening the play in our defensive zone. We survived some shorthanded situations and goalie Richard Ullberg performed great,” analyses assistant coach Milan Navratil. The new coaching staff has much work to do at the moment because they don’t really know their opponents well. “Graz plays a very physical game and we have to put up some resistance. However, we should not forget to focus on our strengths too“, adds Navratil. Zdenek Blatny (leg) is ruled out for several weeks, while Lubomir Stach (shoulder) is doubtful. Ullberg is expected to be the starting goalie once again. Moser Medical Graz99ers had a great home opener, beating EC-KAC thanks to a goal by Manuel Ganahl 1:0. The Styrians can rely on their defense at the moment as they conceded only 1.8 goals per game in preseason and just two in Linz on first game day. “We have modified our defensive system and it really works. The new arrivals are extremely important too. In the past we benefitted from their style of playing and I think we don’t have to change anything. We are motivated and will enter the game with the right amount of hardness“, explains Ganahl. HC Orli Znojmo – Moser Medical Graz99ers (017) Referees: KELLNER, KINCSES, Ettlmayr, Soos
