Ten teams fighting for (bonus-)points on Sunday

Samstag, 24.Januar 2015 - 20:36 - Five games will be played on Sunday: Champion HCB Südtirol hosts EC-KAC, HDD Telemach Olimpija Ljubljana welcomes EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz and HC Orli Znojmo travels to Graz. Plus: two Inter Austrian battles.

VSV and Dornbirn fighting for bonus points
Villach is already qualified for the Play-offs. In the last three rounds the Eagles will fight now for bonus points for the Pick-Round. On Sunday Gerhard Unterluggauer and Co. host Dornbirner EC. Lately the Carinthians won eight home-games in a row and won so far all five home-games against Dornbirn. „The game against Dornbirn is important for us, because we want to finish strong and be in the best position for the next round. We know they want to do the same, so it’s going to be a great game. We want to continue to grow as a team, playing the right way to lead us into the playoffs!“, sid Forward Darren Haydar. Villach misses defenseman Cole Jarrett. Dornbirn is also still fighting for bonus points, but for the Qualification Round. On the road the Bulldogs had problems this season, reached just eleven points from 20 games. In the year 2015 the Bulldogs lost so far all four road-games. On Friday Niki Petrik and Co. stayed in Graz with-out points, but won the last period. „We can build on that“, said Niki Petrik. DEC is with-out Martin Mairitsch and Stefan Häussle, besides Olivier Magnan und Ryan Kinasewich are questionable.

Znojmo continues road-trip in Graz
After fixing the Play-offs with a clear road-win in Ljubljana HC Orli Znojmo hosts Graz on Sunday. Now the „Red Eagles“ will try to end as high as possible and take some bonus points into the Pick-Round. „It was a difficult game for us on Friday because we knew we had to win. It is great that we have a Top 6 spot secure for now, because it was our goal, but we still want to get as many points as possible in the remaining games and want to succeed in Graz, too“, said defenseman Richard Pavlikovsky. Graz on the other side is still fighting for a Top 6 spot. The last six games were an up and down for the 99ers, after a win always followed a defeat. To stay incontact with the Top 6 the Styrians need two points. So far this season always the home-team was successful between in the games between Graz and Znojmo. „To beat Znojmo we need to play good defense“, knows G99-defenseman Jake Marto. Znojmo misses Pavel Rose, besides Patrik Novak and Martin Baca are doubtful. Graz has the same line-up available like on Friday.

Ljubljana hosts Linz with a new goalie
HDD Telemach Olimpija Ljubljana hosts EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz on Sunday. Lately the Slovenes lost three games in a row at home and with the Black Wings Linz the Dragons had problems so far this season, lost all three games clearly! „Linz has already qualified for the playoffs. They've shown their strength against us this season already. Still it this league anybody can beat anybody. We'll have to play with discipline in defensive and in neutral zone and take advantage of our chances in the offense. I think it's time we beat them for the first time this season.", knows young goalie Tomaz Trelc. The decision about the starting goalie will be made tomorrow. It's possible Trelc will start once more. Miika Wiikman was expected in Ljubjana in the afternoon. Out for tomorrow are Matej Hocevar, Gal Koren, Kyle Medvec and Aljaz Uduc. Also questionable are Ales Music and Ziga Pesut. Also Linz stayed with-out points twice lately after fixing the Play-offs. To secure place 2 the Upper Austrians need points. „It is so close in this league, anybody can beat anybody, so for us each bonus point could be important“, knows Linz Manager Christian Perthaler. Robert Lukas could make his comeback for Linz, in the net will start Thomas Dechel.

Bozen with perfect home-record against Klagenfurt
HCB Südtirol hosts EC-KAC on Sunday. The Foxes won so far all three home-games in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga against Klagenfurt. For the Champion it is the last home-game in the first part of the regular season. The Foxes still have chances to reach place 6, but need wins. Klagenfurt must go into the Qualification-Round and try to fix the Play-offs there. But the Red Jackets are still fighting for bonus points. „We must concentrate on each game, because it is a very important time for us. KAC is always good for a surprise, so we have to be very concentrated“, knows Rick Schofield. Bozen misses Guntis Galvins and G?nther Hell.html'>G G?nther Hell. „Last season I won the title with Bozen. This year in Klagenfurt it did run that well so far. We want to get as many bonus points as possible!“, said forward Kim Strömberg. Klagenfurt is without Schuller and Manuel Geier, Stefan Geier is questionable.

Vienna and Salzburg will face twice in the last three rounds
The last three rounds will see Vienna and Salzburg fighting twice for points: While EC Red Bull Salzburg fixed already the first place after the first part of the regular season, Vienna is fourth and is still fighting for bonus points. Salzburg won on Friday in Bozen, while the Caps lost at home against Innsbruck. „We want to show another face“, said Headcoach of Vienna, Tom Pokel. „The first place is nice, but we still have the Pick-Round and the Play-offs a-head of us! We want to play strong and win also in Vienna“, said Salzburg‘s Headcoach Daniel Ratushny.
