Linz takes over first place from Salzburg

Samstag, 04.Oktober 2014 - 4:14 - HC Orli Znojmo won in Salzburg with 5:4. Linz beats Ljubljana with 4:0 and took over the lead in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. Vienna won in Szekesfehervar with 3:2, Bozen took both points from Villach and Innsbruck was successful in Graz.

Black Wings after Shut-out-win vs. Ljubljana new leader
EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz had a good start into the game against Olimpija Ljubljana and took the lead after just 205 seconds. The hosts then dominated the game (38:16-shots) and finally Rob Hisey made the 2:0 shorthanded (14.). In the second period the teams took some penalties. The Upper Austrians still were the better team and extend their lead to 3:0. The final score from 4:0 made Andrew Kozek in a Power Play. Goalie Thomas Dechel saved all shots from the guests and celebrated a Shut-out in his first EBEL-game. Because Salzburg lost against Znojmo, Linz is the only unbeaten team and the new leader.

Innsbruck won in Graz after Shoot-out
Innsbruck started good into the game in Graz, but the 99ers were able to scored the first goal with their first chance after just 111 seconds. The teams showed then a fast and open game, without big chances on both sides. The 99ers could not extend the lead in a 5-on3-Powerplay. It followed some more penalties in the middle period. Finally the Sharks took advantage from one Powerplay and equilzed from a solo from Matt Siddall. The 99ers answered quickly and took the lead again. In the last 20 minutes Innsbruck did more for the offense, but Graz stayed dangerous in counter-attacks. In the last minute, Innsbruck already brought a sixth skater, Andreas Valdix surprised goalie Danny Sabourin with a distance-shot and equalized again. After a scoreless Overtime, Ex-99er VanBallegooie fixed the win for Innsbruck in Shoot-out.

Bozen took revenge in Villach Rick Schofield scored the lead for Bozen with the first shot in the first minute. The Foxes then took some penalties and this was punished by Villach. The "Eagles" turned the game around with two Power Play goals from Sean Ringrose (12.) and Marco Pewal (13.). Ten seconds before the end of the second period Rick Schofield made the 2:2, quick after a Power Play . In the last 20 minutes the game was thrilling again: Gerhard Unterluggauer scored the 3:2-lead for Villach with a shot from the distance again, but Guntis Galvins quickly equalized (48.). Marco Insam then brought HCB Südtirol with a nice counter-attack on the winning-street. Galvins than even made the 5:3 into the empty net and fixed Bozen's second win.

Znojmo adds Salzburg first defeat
The first three minutes brought three goals: The Red Bulls took the lead in the first Powerplay, but Znojmo answered with their first chance: Rehus surprised Gracnar after a break, but Salzburg quickly re-took the lead. Salzburg then even made the 3:1 in a 5-on-3-Power Play, but failed to add another goal from several chances. In the second period Jiri Beroun deflected the puck and gave Znojmo some hope again. Znojmo now got stronger and finally Baca, who finished a counter nicely, made the 3:3. Baros then even made the 4:3 from another break. Salzburg answered with much pressure, but Nechvatal got stronger and stronger. Jan Lattner finally fixed the win in a Power Play. In the end HC Orli Znojmo won in Salzburg 5:4

Vienna won in Hungary
Vienna had a good start into the game. After Jamie Fraser, with a shot from the distance and Sascha Bauer with a solo, missed the first good chances, Jonathan Ferland made the 1:0 (5.). Fehervar AV19, on the other side, could not score from two Power Plays. In the middle of the second period the Hungarians even could not score in a 5-on-3-situation, but the hosts now were the dominating team and finally Frank Banham deflected a shot from the blue line from Peter Hetenyi for the equalizer. The Capitals tried to answer quickly, but no more goal were scored in this period. After the re-start Fehervar AV19 took the lead in a Power Play with a rebound-goal from Brandon Marino. Vienna answered quickly in a Power Play and looked then for another goal. Finally Captain Jonathan Ferland made the 3:2 in a Power Play and decided the match for the UPC Vienna Capitals.
