Samstag, 29.März 2014 - 8:24 - EC VSV won in Bozen 5:1 and managed the 1:2 in the series. It was the first victory at South Tyrol vor Villach.

Villach tried to make pressure in Bozen from the beginning. The Eagles took advantage from the first Power Play of the game in the eight minute and scored the lead: Gerhard Unterluggauer was successful with a shot from the blue line – 1:0. Just 94 seconds later Curtis Fraser made the 2:0 from a rebound. The home-team woke up now and tried to get the game more and more into their hands, but couldn’t beat goalie J. P. Lamoureux.

In the second period the game went up and down. Bozen tried to score their first goal. The Foxes neglected their defense a little bit, what Villach enabled counter-attacks. While the home-team missed to score the 1:2 after a solo from Markus Gander and from Trent Whitfield - both forwards were stopped by Lamoureux - Erik Hunter on the other side made the 3:0 in the 30th minute in a Power Play. Just 19 seconds after the re-start Hunter scored the 4:0 for Villach from a rebound in another Power Play. The goal was assisted by Derek Ryan, who set up - with his third Assists in this game - a new point-record in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. The US-American has scored now already 99 points, including 40 goals. In the end Villach won in Bozen 5:1 and managed the 1:2 in the Best-of-Five-Series. Game four is played already on Sunday (17:45) in Villach. After this win EC VSV is already qualified for the Champions Hockey League.
