Donnerstag, 14.November 2013 - 9:51 - A night to remember was the visit of Dornbirn for VSV. The Carinthians celebrated a crushing 7:1 win and got a speedy start after the IIHF Break.

Villach’s goalie JP Lamoureux was the hero in the first period in their home game against Dornbirn, keeping a clean sheet with three great saves. While the visitors wasted their chances, the hosts did better: halfway through the first top scorer John Hughes opened the scoring after a nice pass by Gerhard Unterluggauer. It even got worse for the Bulldogs when Cole Jarrett doubled the score with a lucky goal with four minutes to go in the first. Things changed in the middle frame when the blue shirts took over command and they rewarded themselves. First, Curtis Fraser netted on a wraparound and shortly after the midway point of the game Derek Ryan put his side 4:0 up. Now everything was going perfectly for the Eagles and Michael Forney finished a nice combination for the fifth goal. Late in the second Dornbirn became dangerous again but Alexander Feichtner was not able to beat Lamoureux once again. Early in the final 20 minutes Brett Sonne did, scoring the consolation goal after a pass by Jonathan D'Aversa. The Carinthians were not worried and John Hughes responded with his second of the night. With three minutes to go Patrick Platzer rounded off the scoring to make it 7:1.
